US Warns Europe About Consequences of Not Purchasing Weapons
Washington has warned European countries about the consequences of refusing to purchase American-made weapons. This has been reported by Reuters.
According to the reports received from Washington in recent weeks, the EU is taking steps to promote the European defense industry while also restricting the purchase of certain types of American weapons. The participation of American manufacturers in arms competitions is also being limited.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a meeting at the end of March with the foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia that the United States wishes to continue participating in defense procurements by EU countries. He warned that any exclusion of American companies from European competitions would be perceived negatively by Washington.
A senior official from the State Department indicated that Rubio plans to discuss this issue during his visit to Brussels this week, where he will participate in a NATO foreign ministers' meeting.
