Paris Court Finds Marine Le Pen Guilty

The Paris court has found Marine Le Pen guilty of misusing European Parliament funds. This was reported by the French news outlet BFMTV.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of France's National Rally party, along with her associates, has been accused of squandering European Parliament resources. According to the investigation, from 2004 to 2016, they allegedly embezzled nearly 3 million euros from the Parliament's funds by hiring fake assistants and using the money to advance their political goals within the country.

The court has yet to announce its decision regarding Le Pen's potential participation in the 2027 presidential elections. The French prosecution has requested a five-year ban on her political activities. If such a decision is made, she would be ineligible to run for the presidency.

Le Pen is expected to appeal the court's decision.
