This Step Will Be Critical for Zelensky: Supreme Rada
Refusing to sign a deal on mineral resources with the United States will be critical for Volodymyr Zelensky. This decision will put an end to Zelensky's regime, stated Alexander Dubinsky, a member of the Supreme Rada, who is currently under preliminary arrest on suspicion of treason, in a Telegram post.
"The key question that needs to be addressed when calculating the remaining time for Zelensky is how much time the U.S. has allowed for signing the minerals agreement," the publication notes.
According to the politician, relations between Ukraine and the U.S. will remain relatively calm until the moment it becomes necessary to sign the agreement. After Zelensky refuses to conclude a deal with the U.S., Washington will consider his regime incapable of negotiating.
The draft agreement was sent to Kyiv by the U.S. Department of the Treasury this week. It includes a proposal to create a limited liability partnership involving a U.S.-Ukraine reconstruction investment fund. According to the contract, the fund is to receive preferential rights over Ukraine's natural resources and all infrastructure projects for which the country is seeking investors.
