The Era of Deep Ties with the US Has Ended: Mark Carney
Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that the era of deep ties with the United States has come to an end. He has warned Canadians that President Donald Trump has fundamentally changed the relationship, and regardless of future developments in the trade sector, there will be no turning back, according to The Guardian.
"The old relationship with the United States, which was based on the deepening integration of our economies and strong security and military cooperation, has ended," he stated.
The Prime Minister characterized the tariffs imposed by Trump on vehicle imports as unwarranted and said they violate existing trade agreements between the countries. "Canada will respond to the tariffs," Mark Carney noted.
It is worth mentioning that the US President announced that starting April 3, a 25% tariff will be imposed on vehicles and auto parts imported into the US, which, according to expert predictions, could decrease production, raise prices, and escalate the global trade war.
