What Prevents Students from Riding Bicycles to Class and Back Home? – Pashinyan
The government is ready to support students and lecturers who consider or are willing to use bicycles for commuting to class and returning home, in the form of subsidizing the interest on loans taken for this purpose. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“First, this can solve the issue of transportation congestion in the long term. Secondly, it promotes a healthy lifestyle. I believe this is a good program. Even in any village located 10 km from Yerevan, people say there should be free student buses. But dear people, what prevents a student from riding a bicycle to class and returning home?” the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister added that the logic of political supremacy should be replaced with the logic of civic supremacy. “Let go of the idea of having the best car. I have personally cycled through all the so-called inaccessible areas of Yerevan. It is a very normal morning workout,” he noted.
