Search at the Gyumri 'Mother Armenia' Alliance Office
Employees of the Police and the Anti-Corruption Committee are conducting a search at the Gyumri 'Mother Armenia' Alliance office, evidently obstructing our work, the alliance reports. This was announced by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.
“We assess this as an attack by the authorities against the opposition force participating in the Gyumri elections and urge the media to come to Gorky 50/4. Early in the morning, a search was also carried out at the house of our teammate Ara Voskanyan, who is engaged in organizational matters,” the statement reads.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the apparent crimes of bribing, receiving bribes, and violating the prohibition on charity during elections based on reports received from the Criminal Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Service.
According to the data received, an elector was offered a bribe in exchange for voting for a party nominated in the extraordinary elections to the Gyumri City Council. Information has also been received regarding a member of the same community council and a representative offering firewood to voters in the guise of charity, promising money for paving streets, purchasing costumes, and other properties.
Notably, all 14 members of the Gyumri City Council 'Balasanyan Alliance' resigned from their mandates in October 2024, including Mayor Vardges Samsonyan. Subsequently, all representatives on the alliance's list also submitted their resignations.
