KP Deputy Discusses Recent Gunfire Incidents

Gunfire has indeed been heard, but it is not targeted and does not have an intense nature. This was stated today, March 26, during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly by KP faction deputy Narek Ghahramanyan, who added that the Ministry of Defense has released a statement regarding these gunshots.

In response to the question of what direction the Azerbaijani forces are shooting if they are not targeting our positions, he replied, “I do not pinpoint the side, but these are not specific targeted shots and are not intense. I cannot explain that much to you; you should at least have spent a couple of months monitoring the border to understand why it is being done. For example, I am well aware that when there was fog at the border positions, people were simply shooting into the air, both from this side and the other. There have been cases where we and they shoot into the air, starting from the 2000s. This is to inform the opponent that we are in our positions, and they were doing the same.”

He added that the recent gunfire incidents are not targeted, and there are no casualties: “If there are gunshots, there is always a danger. Yes, there is anxiety among the population, and these shots are made to create anxiety and undermine the peace agenda. Azerbaijan undermines the peace agenda for a very simple reason; it does not want to sign a peace treaty.”
