Automated Monitoring Stations to Be Installed in Yerevan

In order to modernize the atmospheric air quality monitoring system, two automatic monitoring stations for air quality have been acquired with state funding. This was announced by Levon Azizyan, the director of the Hydrometeorological Service, during a solemn meeting dedicated to World Meteorological Day and the days of the Forester, Hydrologist, and Meteorologist in Armenia, where he presented the results for 2024.

“The stations are already located in Yerevan. Currently, preparatory work is being carried out in collaboration with the Yerevan city municipality, after which they will be installed and put into operation. Operation is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025,” Azizyan reported.

He added that this planned modernization will enable the precise measurement of key air pollutants (including particulate matter such as PM2.5 and PM10, nitrogen and sulfur dioxides, carbon monoxide, and ground-level ozone) in real time.
