Syrian Authorities Request Russia to Extradite Assad

The new Syrian authorities have officially requested Russia to extradite the former president of the country, Bashar al-Assad, for trial. This was reported by the 'Al Arabia' television channel.

It is noteworthy that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not currently plan personal communications with the new Syrian leader.

On December 8, 2024, the armed opposition of 'Hayat Tahrir al-Sham' (recognized and banned as a terrorist organization in Russia) and other militants entered Damascus and took power.
