We Will Not Turn a Blind Eye: Erdoğan Issues Statement
The authorities will not turn a blind eye to attempts by opposition circles to sow chaos in the streets and destabilize the peace in the country. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“We are witnessing attempts to create chaos in the streets of Istanbul, using the anti-corruption operation as a pretext. We will not turn a blind eye to these attempts that threaten the peace of our nation and aim to terrorize Turkey just to keep schemes of profit and plunder hidden. The protests are illegal; we will not yield to this street terror. Our police officers have been harmed during the demonstrations, and I wish them a speedy recovery,” Erdoğan said while speaking in Istanbul.
It is worth noting that protests have been taking place in various cities in Turkey for the third day in connection with the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, representing the Republican People's Party (CHP). He has been charged with corruption and connections to terrorists.
