Rasmussen on the Withdrawal of the EU Mission from Armenia

I do not believe that if the EU mission leaves Armenia, it will result in negative consequences. This was stated by Anders Fog Rasmussen, founder and president of the international political consulting organization 'Rasmussen Global' and former NATO Secretary General, during a meeting with journalists in Ijevan on March 20.

He explained this by stating that the signing of a peace agreement would signify achieving mutual trust between the parties. Rasmussen noted that afterward, other mechanisms would emerge to monitor the situation at the border to prevent violations of the agreement's provisions.

He also emphasized that this is not about the presence of third parties. 'I know that Baku demands the EU observers be removed from the border in the context of the peace agreement,' recalled the former NATO Secretary General. According to him, Yerevan has essentially agreed to resolve this issue accordingly.

'Moreover, I can say that EU observers are not spies. They are unarmed, neutral, and simply monitor what is happening at the border,' concluded Rasmussen.
