Director of NSS Discusses Withdrawal of Russian Border Guards from Armenian-Turkish Border
During a session in the National Assembly today, journalists inquired about the potential withdrawal of Russian border guards from the Armenian-Turkish border. Director of the National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, responded, stating that starting in 2024, the services at Zvartnots Airport will be fully carried out by the Armenian border troops. He further noted that the same will apply to the Armenian-Iranian border, specifically in the Agarak section.
Abazyan added, "From March 1, services at the checkpoint will also be performed by the Armenian border troops." When asked whether this process would be ongoing, the NSS director replied, "At this moment, we do not have any other specific decision."
