Threats to Armenia's Independence Come from Several Countries: Kristine Grigoryan

The likelihood of an Azerbaijani attack is currently unsupported by any evidence. This was stated by Kristine Grigoryan, the head of Armenia's National Intelligence Service, during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, responding to a question about the possibility of an attack from Azerbaijan considering their recent statements.

“At this moment, the necessary facts and signals to assess a high likelihood of an Azerbaijani attack are absent, but the situation is changing rapidly, and our service is closely monitoring developments,” she emphasized.

When asked which countries, besides Turkey and Azerbaijan, pose a threat to Armenia, Grigoryan mentioned, “Threats to Armenia's independence and sovereignty are emanating from several countries.”

Regarding the issue of Armenian captives held in Baku, Grigoryan stated that under her service's mandate, their main function is to gather, summarize, and present intelligence information to the political leadership. As for captives, such humanitarian issues also fall within the scope of the National Intelligence Service's work.

“It is unprofessional for our service to comment on further details regarding this matter,” Grigoryan added.
