Electric Vehicle Import Quota in Armenia Should Be Reallocated: Initiating Group
The import quota for electric vehicles in Armenia should be reallocated. This statement was made by the head of the initiative group for the "Protection of the Interests of Electric Vehicle Importers," Artak Hakobyan, at the multimedia press center of Sputnik Armenia.
According to Hakobyan, the Armenian government needs to review the limits granted to dealers and individuals. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the quotas intended for electric vehicles will be distributed in the following manner by 2025: 5,000 quotas for citizens and 3,000 for dealers.
On February 23 this year, the State Revenue Committee of Armenia announced that 90% of the 5,000 quotas allocated to citizens for duty-free import of electric vehicles for 2025 had been utilized.
Members of the initiative group also noted that there are very few dealer companies in Armenia, with only 7-8 organizations that hold competitive advantages over individual importers. Moreover, dealers sell vehicles at higher prices, causing buyers to pay 15% more or be forced to choose an alternative model imported by a specific dealer.
