70-Year-Old Driver Offered Bribe to Police and Threw Money into Car Interior
On February 28, police officers in the Kotayk region noticed that the driver of a "JAK" brand vehicle was using a mobile phone while driving on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway. In order to issue an administrative violation report, they stopped the vehicle.
The 70-year-old driver requested the officers not to record the violation and then offered them 5,000 drams. The law enforcement officers informed the driver that his actions were illegal; however, the man threw the money into the interior of the police vehicle.
With reasonable suspicion of attempting to bribe a police officer, the driver was arrested and taken to the Kotayk Community Police Division. The documentation has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
