Another Incident of Violence Against Healthcare Workers: Avanesyan's Response

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "Unfortunately, incidents of aggression against healthcare workers carrying out their professional duties continue. Last night, another act of violence occurred in Yerevan against our emergency medical staff who rushed to provide necessary medical assistance in response to a call.

A similar incident was reported days ago involving an emergency medical worker in the Shirak province. I strongly condemn what has happened. I am confident that these incidents will receive a legitimate assessment, and I will personally be vigilant on this matter. Acts of violence against healthcare workers are gross violations of the rule of law, unacceptable behavior, and yes, they should also be subject to public condemnation," she stated.

It is worth noting that the police's operational management center in Shirak province received a report from emergency services indicating that a 31-year-old medical worker was transported with a cranial injury to the "Gyumri" medical center from the village of Azatana. The young man reported that around 05:10, he had responded to a call at one of the houses on 28th street in Azatana, where, while providing assistance to a 75-year-old citizen, he was struck in the face with an ashtray by the citizen's 44-year-old son, resulting in bodily harm.
