We Demand the Immediate Release of Fans: Shirak Football Club

“We demand the immediate release of the fans who are currently in detention for justly demanding the resignation of the current leaders of the Football Federation of Armenia, who have turned football into a disaster.” This statement was released by Shirak Football Club on their Facebook page.

“Football belongs to the fans; we play football for them. If the current leaders of the Football Federation believe that they can silence the fans by involving security forces and continue their destructive activities, they are sorely mistaken. Shirak FC will not allow this, and we are even prepared to refrain from playing on the field or to leave the pitch if even one fan is hindered from exercising their rights and unjustly detained.”

“Armenian fans, Shirak FC stands with you, your struggle is just, and your resignation is inevitable.”

It is worth noting that during a protest action held at the Armenian Premier League match between “Pyunik” and “Ararat-Armenia,” nine football fans were detained.
