«We cannot promise that you will marry without dating» - ECHR Deputy to Mamijanyan
At the meeting of the Armenia-EU Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the head of the ‘I Have Honor’ faction in the National Assembly, Hayk Mamijanyan, referred to Armenia's EU membership process, emphasizing that this process may lead to very high expectations. However, he warned that it could ultimately become a problem for everyone, as the population currently believes, due to certain statements, that we will be a member state of the EU.
The Deputy from the European Council responded to Mamijanyan, noting, “When it comes to the goal of Armenia's accession to the EU, we must understand that we cannot promise you that you will marry without dating. We can see the goal ahead, we can want it, but there are many things that can happen that are unpredictable. We also have work to do.”
It is worth noting that Hayk Mamijanyan, at the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee meeting, stated, “We are a member of the EAEU, our economy is significantly dependent on it. Whether that is good or bad is another question. But you are approaching someone who is already married. First, we must get divorced from one before we can marry another.”
