Poland Will Accept Additional US Troops, Says Duda

Poland will accept additional US troops if the new German government declines them. This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Polsat television.

“If Germany does not want American troops, does not want partnership with the United States, then we will gladly accept partnership with the United States. As President of Poland, I can responsibly say that I am interested in relocating all cooperation that Germany has with the US to Poland,” Duda said.

He made this comment in response to the remarks made by Friedrich Merz, the candidate for chancellor of Germany who received the maximum votes in the Bundestag elections, regarding his country's intention to refuse partnership with the US.

Addressing the question of establishing a common army within the framework of the European Union, Duda declared: “For Poland, the most reliable ally is primarily the US, which has repeatedly demonstrated over the past century that by re-engaging in the game, it can interrupt any armed conflict and halt it.”
