Global Reactions to the Heated Zelensky-Trump Conversation

The international community has reacted to the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Leaders from European countries have expressed support for Ukraine following the tense meeting between Trump and Zelensky.

"You are not alone," said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Ukraine. "We must honor those who have fought from the very beginning," stated French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasizing that Russia is the aggressor in the current situation and Ukrainians are the victims of aggression.

“Ukraine is Europe. We stand by Ukraine. We will strengthen our support for Ukraine so they can continue to fight against the aggressor. It became clear today that the free world needs a new leader. We must have a new leader. We, Europeans, must accept this challenge,” noted the head of the EU's foreign policy service, Kaja Kallas.

“Ukraine, Spain is with you,” wrote Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in several languages, including Ukrainian. “The truth is clear. Russia has invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine is defending its freedom and ours. We support Ukraine,” wrote Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

Ukrainian politicians also expressed their support for Zelensky. “Complete support for the president. No one has the right to forget that in this war Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim of aggression,” wrote Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, in English on X after the meeting in the White House.

“Peace without guarantees is impossible,” stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. “I support the president who is defending the interests of our heroic people. In every situation. Period,” added Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president's office.
