Current Situation on Roads in Armenia
The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia.
The roads from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn province to Kary Lake and Amberd Fortress are closed. The Vardenyats Pass (snow, fog, blizzard) is closed for freight vehicles and difficult to pass for other transportation means. The Charentsavan-Abovyan road is closed.
The roads from Dilijan, Tigranashen curves, from the intersection in Jermuk city to Kapan, and from Syunik village to Tatev are closed for trucks with trailers, while the Artashavan-Tsiltkar road is closed for freight vehicles.
The Vanadzor-Spitak road (up to 12 km), Vanadzor-Zoraget, Vanadzor-Dilijan, and Vanadzor-Stepanavan roads (up to the curves) are closed for freight and trailer trucks. The section known as "Meghru Hill", the Berd-Jambarak road, and all roads in Lori and Tavush provinces are impassable for all types of vehicles, while the Spitak curves and the roads in Tavush province are closed for freight vehicles.
Snow is falling in Gegharkunik (except for Vardenis city), Kotayk, Syunik, Ararat, Armavir, Tavush (except for the cities of Noyemberyan, Ijevan, and Berd), Lori, and Vayots Dzor provinces. There is black ice in some places on the roads in the Alagyaz region of Tavush and in the Tigranashen curves (blizzard).
Blizzard conditions are reported on the roads from Yerevan-Sevan (25-40 km), Lanjik-Mastara, Horom-Artik-Metz Mantash, Gyumri-Jajur, Charentsavan-Fantan, and Charentsavan-Arzakan. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
According to information received from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepanavan-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles.
