How to Defeat Pashinyan: Kocharyan
You may think that there exists a personality in the world who cannot be defeated through elections. This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during a press conference, addressing the question of whether it is possible to defeat Nikol Pashinyan through elections.
“This is not a rational explanation for the current situation. Of course, it is possible to win, and anyone can have one rating today, another rating tomorrow, and another rating the day after. Yes, I believe that it is possible to win through elections. If I say it is impossible, what am I doing here, or what are others preoccupied with? Should everyone just give up, raise their hands, and say, ‘Nikol Pashinyan is an invincible leader’? Such a thing does not exist in nature. This thesis itself is harmful because it instills despair in people,” he stated.
Kocharyan also noted: “Power always has certain advantages until a certain moment. When I said, ‘We have left the government alone with its voters,’ we see a significant change. People are genuinely asking why poverty is on their heads while the wealth of the ruling party is in their safes. That question arises, and people continuously express this question in the streets. Therefore, work must be done on that rating. Yes, the opposition’s rating is low; will it remain low? I don’t think so. Once the scent of elections arises, people instinctively begin to determine whether they continue to support dishonesty or seek another option. I believe the situation has matured for a different decision to be made.
Now, with what face, in what format the opposition will participate, I cannot say. That there will be many participants, I am confident that there will be consolidation; they will all unite, raise one flag, but it is hard to imagine in our reality, unless we are not romanticizing,” he said.
