European countries need to take control of the North Atlantic alliance, significantly increasing their influence within it. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barron during a broadcast on France Info.

“Now is the right time to strengthen Europe’s weight in NATO. This means reinforcing strategic issues, but also a change in vision; now it is time for us to take control of NATO,” he said.

According to the French Foreign Minister, Europe must develop its own defense capabilities.

“It is necessary to Europeanize the alliance, which has been like a club operating under the umbrella of the United States, allowing us to live in carefree conditions for decades. Now, the situation has changed,” Barron noted.
