We Failed to Escape from Subservience, the Civil Contract No Longer Exists: Hakob Aslanyan

During this period, we have been and continue to be under serious pressure from our former teammates. This was stated by former MP Hakob Aslanyan at the congress of the United National Constitutional Party (MASK).

He announced that his former student compared him to American army general Benedict Arnold, accusing him of betraying the team, suggesting that Aslanyan was once nurtured by him and then betrayed.

“In 2017, when the Civil Contract was participating in parliamentary elections with the Yelk alliance and had serious personnel issues, Mikayel Hayrapetyan knew me very well, proud of me at every opportunity, introducing me, my past, my participation in all the wars in Artsakh, my knowledge as a teacher, and my abilities to pass them on to the younger generation, my principled nature and incorruptibility. At that time, I was invited to join the team and run as an MP,” the deputy recalled, noting that during Serzh Sargsyan's rule, he received 861 votes, which was a significant achievement, while in 2019, he garnered over 3,500 votes, largely due to the Prime Minister's influence: “But excuse me, I wasn't just a mere pawn.”

According to Aslanyan, he and Aghazaryan did everything to ensure a healthy and unconstrained atmosphere within the Civil Contract.

“Unfortunately, we failed to escape from subservience. This process has reached its logical conclusion, and today we have a government of one person,” he stated, emphasizing that the Civil Contract team no longer exists because a group of people, where everything is done by the will of one person, cannot be considered a team.
