What Happened at the Nor Nork Branch
The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has refuted information circulated in the media and social networks, claiming that a citizen was not served at the Nor Nork branch of the Migration and Citizenship Service supposedly due to the presence of Mount Ararat in the citizen's signature.
“A report was published in one of the media outlets with the title: ‘A citizen of the Republic of Armenia was denied a social card at the Nor Nork branch of the Migration and Citizenship Service for an unprecedented reason — because Mount Ararat appeared on the citizen's signature in the passport.’
In this regard, we inform you that the citizen's claims do not correspond to reality. A citizen with the name and surname indicated in the publication was not served at this subdivision. It should also be noted that the 8th window of the Migration and Citizenship Service, which the citizen approached, services individuals who have been forcibly displaced from Artsakh, meaning the citizen could not have been served at that window.”
“Immediately, employees from the Internal Security and Anti-Corruption Division of the Ministry established contact with the citizen, during which the citizen provided contradictory information and did not specify the exact date and time of their visit to that subdivision. We urge to refrain from publishing information that has no correlation with reality, as well as to avoid unjustly targeting the service employees,” the statement reads.
