Rescue Services Transition to Enhanced Duty

Rescue Services Transition to Enhanced Duty

Taking into account the weather factors, particularly snowfalls, fog, and black ice, which often make roads impassable, dangerous, and lead to vehicle blockages, the Minister of Internal Affairs’ Deputy and Director of the Ministry’s Emergency Situations Department, Kamo Tsutulian, has ordered the rescue service units to transition to enhanced duty.

Vehicle blockages, especially on interstate and intercommunity roads, are among the most common issues that frequently disrupt normal traffic flow and cause additional problems. In order to ensure the safety of the population and to rapidly respond to emergencies as conditions dictate, fire and rescue teams routinely conduct patrols on several interstate roads, establishing duty points where necessary.

The rescuers have quickly responded to numerous alerts received from citizens. On February 6, there were 8 recorded incidents of vehicles becoming blocked or stuck in problematic sections of the country’s roadways. In total, rescuers have removed 78 vehicles from blockages and provided assistance to 204 citizens.

For safety reasons, the Rescue Service urges the public to travel only with winter tires and to remain vigilant by strictly adhering to road traffic rules.
