Orban Threatens to Cancel EU Sanctions

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has announced that he will suspend the European Union sanctions against Russia if Brussels does not assist in restoring the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory. He stated that Kyiv's decision is unacceptable.

"It is unacceptable that Ukraine refuses to transport Russian gas through its territory to Central Europe, thereby causing an increase in gas prices, which in turn leads to everything, including rising fuel prices. For this reason, we have no choice but to say very seriously and firmly that if they do not change this, we will lift the sanctions," Orban said.

He demanded that the European Commission ensure conditions that do not harm the interests of Hungarian citizens and do not lead to further price increases.
