Agreement Reached on Next Phase of Border Demarcation Process: Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has presented the latest developments in the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as the ongoing border demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, who is on a working visit to Armenia.

Pashinyan made this statement during a joint press conference following his meeting with Garibashvili. He informed his Georgian counterpart that Armenia is interested in the unblocking and full revitalization of regional economic infrastructures, which must occur within the framework of complete respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders of all countries.

“In this context, I emphasized the importance of implementing the ‘Peaceful Crossroads’ project proposed by the Armenian government, which promises very concrete and tangible prospects for Armenia, Georgia, and other countries in our common region. I also stressed the importance of ensuring inclusivity in regional and extra-regional projects. In this context, we highlight Armenia's interest and readiness to join the ‘Black Sea Electric Cable’ project,” said Pashinyan.

The two leaders also discussed ongoing processes aimed at establishing and strengthening peace and stability in the South Caucasus region. “I presented to my partner the developments in the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, emphasizing that Armenia has put forward very concrete proposals and solutions regarding all issues of mutual concern, and is awaiting a constructive response from Azerbaijan. I reaffirm that the Armenian government is steadfast in advancing the peace agenda and will continue to make active efforts in this direction,” stated Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister also informed his Georgian counterpart about the latest developments in the ongoing border demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that an agreement has been reached to start the next phase of the demarcation process adjacent to the interstate border crossing points between Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
