Lukashenko: Putin and I Were Shocked by Pashinyan's Statement on Nagorno-Karabakh
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan essentially renounced Nagorno-Karabakh, even though at that time, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was willing to agree that this is an area where Armenia would have significant influence. This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
“Putin and I were shocked when, after losing the war, Pashinyan declared that Stepanakert and all of Karabakh are actually Azerbaijani territory,” Lukashenko said.
“I called Putin and said, ‘Did you hear what he said?’ He replied, ‘I heard, but who is pulling this out of his mouth for him to say such a thing?’ I asked if he pushed Pashinyan to say it. He replied, ‘No, I did not intervene at all, I am surprised,’” the Belarusian president narrated.
