The Situation in the Caucasus Region Remains Instable: CSTO Chief of Staff

The situation in the Caucasus region remains unstable, and the process of stabilizing it continues. This was stated by the Chief of Staff of the CSTO, Andrey Serdyukov.

Key issues include the delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the preparation for the signing of a peace treaty. “The tensions in the South Caucasus are being exacerbated by Western countries’ efforts to consolidate their influence in the region,” he noted.

He further emphasized that NATO is increasing its military activity near the borders of Russia and Belarus, and is enhancing the operational capabilities present in the region with the aim of reducing the timelines for the redeployment of NATO troops to the CSTO’s borders.
