Alen Simonyan Has Not Claimed That Russia Must Be Defeated, Spokesman Says
The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan's spokesman, Moises Harutyunyan, stated on Facebook that Alen Simonyan has not claimed that Russia must be defeated or cease to exist.
Harutyunyan refuted information published in the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper and disseminated through the media, which insinuated that Simonyan made a statement during a meeting with Baltic parliamentary representatives that Russia must be crushed for the benefit of Armenia and the Baltic states. According to him, such claims are false and do not reflect reality.
The discussions during that meeting and throughout the conference were oriented towards the ongoing processes in the region and the democratic development of Armenia. The National Assembly President has not made any such statement in any meeting, and the agendas of all meetings are public, while the meetings themselves are recorded. Currently, we are considering legal avenues to refute this falsehood,” he wrote.
