No Candidate Country for EU Membership Has Adopted Such a Law, Zeynalyan
Artak Zeynalyan, during the discussion of the draft law regarding the commencement of Armenia's accession process to the EU, responded to a question about whether any country had adopted such a law by stating that the issue of adopting or not adopting a similar law changes nothing. This process can occur either by law—with a prior announcement—or without it.
Zeynalyan also pointed out that none of the countries that have received candidate status for EU membership have adopted a separate law on this matter. “However, we are not constrained from adopting such a law or proceeding in that direction without such a law,” he said, noting that the procedures do not consider the adoption of such a law as mandatory, but do not exclude it either.
