US Southern Border to Close for Migrants
On January 22, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to close the southern border of the United States to illegal migrants. This was reported by the White House website.
According to the announcement, "The President is authorized under immigration and nationality laws to prevent the physical entry of illegal aliens into the United States at the southern border." The statement added that some states, particularly Texas, had requested protection from the federal government against the influx of migrants during Biden's administration, but "he has been unable to protect them from millions of illegal aliens entering the US." Under the new executive order, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the State Department have been instructed to take all necessary measures to immediately deport illegal migrants who cross the southern border.
