It is not easy, but I don’t think it is impossible: Pashinyan

We decided to adopt a balanced and stabilizing foreign policy, which means that we will try to create balance in our relations with the European Union and with Russia. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“Our relations with Iran are very important. We are trying to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey. We are trying to conclude a peace deal with Azerbaijan. And of course, this is not easy. But on the other hand, I don’t think it is impossible. It may seem strange, but we are indeed suspiciously transparent with all our international partners regarding our intentions. We share what we are doing with one partner with all the others,” he emphasized.

“Yes, we have decided to draw closer to the European Union, but we are very actively trying to share our position with Iran. We are trying to actively communicate our stance in Russia and with all of our partners. Ultimately, Armenia is an independent country and during these difficult times, of course, there are many challenges and numerous threats, but on the other hand, there is a tremendous period of change. It is clear and evident that times of change bring enormous threats, but they also create enormous opportunities, and we are trying to manage the threats and seize the opportunities,” Pashinyan stated, highlighting that this is the only pragmatic way forward.

“But we should not forget about balance, as losing balance can have very serious consequences for security and stability, not only for the country, but also for the region and in terms of global stability. We say that we want to be as interconnected as possible, but on the other hand, any instability in this situation in any region of the world can trigger a chain reaction globally, even in small countries, small regions, and so on. And for that, I believe that it is essential to maintain balance and not forget about daily balance, which I think is the most important,” Pashinyan said during a panel discussion held at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
