Simonyan on Possible Military Operations at the Border
The presentation of such a draft has been based on the will of the citizens, and the National Assembly will discuss it. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan while addressing the draft law on joining the EU.
“Who said that we are going to vote in favor?” Simonyan responded to a journalist's question. Addressing the concerns of the Russian side, he noted, “I do not think that combining cooperation in any form can be an issue.” According to Simonyan, questions can be discussed, and solutions can be found.
“The EAEU is an economically beneficial structure for Armenia, and we have no intention to leave the EAEU; we want to continue,” he added.
Speaking about the possible military operations at the border, the Speaker of the National Assembly mentioned that the presence of EU observers restrains Azerbaijan. “It is one thing to attack a member country of the CSTO, and another to act against a country that has applied for EU membership, shares the values of EU democracy, and has a high level of democracy. These are different realities,” Simonyan stated, expressing hope that the terms for the deployment of EU observers will be extended.
