Let’s talk about your taxes first before discussing the ‘hundred’ dram: Simonian
The price of transport cannot remain 100 drams forever. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian. Referring to the past fight against the rise in transport prices, he said, “I have fought against broken ‘Gazelles’, smoking drivers, cramped vehicles without air conditioning, death traps known as ‘Gazelles’.”
According to him, buses now offer Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and more. “Transport prices cannot remain at 100 drams for 3000 years. Then we can brag that we are the first people to have transport prices at 100 drams for 3050 years. There is nothing in Armenia worth 100 drams. In the world, there isn’t anything that costs 20 cents. A cup of black coffee does not cost 100 drams,” Simonian remarked.
The Speaker of the National Assembly also commented on calls to boycott transport fare payments, stating, “Most of those organizing the boycotts don’t even travel by bus.” He noted that for those who travel regularly and steadily, the ticket price will be cheaper than 100 drams. He also urged a comparison of transport prices with other countries.
