A Group of Protesters Arrested in Georgia: Details
Law enforcement agencies in Georgia have arrested six individuals for not complying with demands and showing resistance during a protest held near the Temka police station. This was reported by Georgia's First Channel, referencing the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the source, one person was arrested for resisting police, while five others were detained for failing to comply with the law enforcement's demand to remove their masks. "On December 30, 2024, an amendment to Georgia's law on Assemblies and Demonstrations came into effect, prohibiting participants in public gatherings from covering their faces with masks or other means.
The police have repeatedly called on protesters gathered near the Temka police station to adhere to the law, but they have not followed police instructions. One individual was detained for resisting law enforcement, while five others did not comply with the demand to remove their masks," stated the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On January 18, clashes occurred between protesters and law enforcement near the Temka police station. Reports indicate that several participants of the protest were detained by authorities for wearing masks, which led to the confrontation.
