I Don't Know Which is More Disgusting in This Statement: Zakharova

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented during a press briefing on the words of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who threatened Europe with the necessity of learning Russian if military spending by the EU was not increased.

"I don't know which is more disgusting in Rutte's statement - the lie about some kind of Russian expansion or nationalism," she stated.

According to Zakharova, European countries are under external management by the United States.

"There are military bases here, there is nuclear weapons, which, being on the territory of European countries, are not accessible to Europeans at all, and they do not control this weapons in any way," she concluded.

Earlier, Rutte stated that EU countries that fail to reach a defense spending level exceeding 2% of GDP will have to learn Russian in five years. He emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump was absolutely right when he repeatedly demanded an increase in spending in this area.
