Georgian Prime Minister Again Threatens Zurabishvili
The Prime Minister of Georgia considers it unlikely that authorities will have to expel Salome Zurabishvili from the Orbeliani Palace after the inauguration of the newly elected president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, whose legitimacy is not recognized by either the current president or the opposition. This was reported by ekhokavkaza.com.
However, Irakli Kobakhidze does not rule out the possibility of such developments, emphasizing that in this case, Salome Zurabishvili could face criminal penalties.
“I think in this case, Salome Zurabishvili will act sensibly. I find it unlikely that the authorities will be forced to expel Zurabishvili from the Orbeliani Palace after the inauguration of the elected president Mikheil Kavelashvili. This is the residence of the President of Georgia, so not leaving would mean committing a criminal offense, which provides for long-term imprisonment not only for Salome Zurabishvili herself but also for anyone involved in this scenario,” said Kobakhidze.
