Response from Serzh Sargsyan's Office to Pashinyan
The author of the statement recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, Nikol Pashinyan, has claimed that since 1994, the negotiation process has focused on returning Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan and has invited former presidents to a debate.
Factinfo contacted the office of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, for a comment on whether the invitation for a debate is being considered. They responded, "Debating on obvious issues is pointless, especially since the entire history of the negotiation process for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been presented publicly and in detail both before and after the usurpation of power. Furthermore, when the current government did everything to undermine the negotiation process. If he really wants to debate, we recommend he debate with the co-chair countries' presidents - those of Russia, the USA, and France - who declared five times between 2009 and 2013 about the negotiation format and the principles on which the Nagorno-Karabakh issue should be resolved. It would also be beneficial for him to listen to the confessions of his 'cultured and constructive' partner from both 2016 and post-war periods," the office of the third President of Armenia responded to the media.
It should be noted that Nikol Pashinyan has invited former presidents to a debate.
