Hajizade Accuses the U.S.

The current U.S. administration is doing everything possible to damage relations with Azerbaijan, relying on fabricated and mythical statements. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ayhan Hajizade.

“We are shocked by the American side's intolerance towards press freedom, which positions itself as a defender of freedom of speech,” said the ministry's representative Ayhan Hajizade in response to a publication by the U.S. diplomatic mission in Baku. The U.S. embassy in Baku made a social media post noting that many insulting and mocking statements were made against the U.S.

“The most notable ones this month were the terms 'open blackmail' and 'disgusting' that were heard during AZTV's 'Saturday' program. It’s a good effort, but this cannot divert attention from the fact that more than 300 political prisoners are jailed in Azerbaijan on baseless charges and will not celebrate holidays with their families,” the statement read.
