Graveyard Issue Resolved Through Drone Monitoring: Clarification
A clarification regarding the incident at the "Spandaryan" graveyard that has stirred controversy in the media. According to the Special Public Services Municipal Entity, a visit was made to the mentioned graveyard in response to a concern raised by Yerevan resident Gohar Sargsyan. The management of the Special Public Services conducted a meeting with citizen G. Sargsyan.
After providing the necessary documentation and an archived video recording of the graveyard area (including the specified burial site) captured by a drone in 2022, it became clear that no changes had been made to the area. Citizen G. Sargsyan's concerns and worries regarding alleged encroachments and other activities at the grave site were alleviated. It should be noted that this grave site has rarely had visitors for over a decade, resulting in significant overgrowth and likely being filled with items from neighboring grave sites over the years.
The Special Public Services Municipal Entity has lovingly and attentively cleared this area (which belongs to the relatives of the deceased) of the aforementioned overgrowth and other debris,” the statement added.
Earlier, media reports indicated that Yerevan resident Gohar Sargsyan had reported the illegal construction occurring in part of her father’s grave area.
