Russian Channels Broadcast Will Cease from January: 'Fact'
For a considerable time, there have been reports circulating that the issue of removing Russian channels from Armenia's multiplex is actively being discussed within the government. Moreover, this was openly announced by the Minister of High-Tech Industry in the spring, but everything ended with a 'party' veil of partial, temporary restrictions. This was reported by the newspaper 'Fact.'
'Sources close to the ruling party inform us that Prime Minister Pashinyan's administration seems to have reached a final decision on this matter, which is to completely deprive Russian television channels of airtime in Armenia. According to our source, the process will begin as early as January. Incidentally, there are reports that the authorities are trying to find legal 'loopholes' and options to also limit the broadcasting of 'off-multiplex' Russian channels, especially so-called 'information-political' channels,' the newspaper reported.
