Poland's President Faces Costly Gift During Armenia Visit
On November 26, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted a delegation led by Polish President Andrzej Duda, who was on an official visit to Armenia. This visit appears to have come at a bit of a cost for the Polish President. This information was reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
According to the 'Gift Declaration Form for Public Officials or Civil Servants' submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission, Nikol Pashinyan received a gift from Polish President Andrzej Duda on November 26: a set of three cufflinks made of 925 silver, adorned with stones including jade and onyx. The value of the gift is estimated to be 74,577 Armenian drams.
It is important to note that if the value of a gift exceeds 60,000 drams (except for hospitality usually organized), it is considered state or communal property according to the first or fourth points of the aforementioned law. Public officials and civil servants are required to hand it over to the state or community as per established procedures. Additionally, they are obligated to register permissible gifts received in the gift registration registry. Gifts valued at less than 40,000 drams do not require registration, except in cases of periodic gifts (five or more) received from the same source within six months. The value of the gifts is assessed based on reasonable market value obtainable through open sources.
