Two Ministers Accused of Corruption and Inaction
The members of the ruling Civil Contract Party are on the hunt. This time, the targets are Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan and Minister of the Environment Hakob Simidyán. On December 12, the Civil Contract Party, led by Nikol Pashinyan, held another self-critique meeting, as reported by the newspaper Journalist.
According to the newspaper, the party members strongly criticized Anahit Avanesyan and Hakob Simidyán. Specifically, Anahit Avanesyan was accused of the deteriorating and disgraceful state of the healthcare sector and numerous complaints raised by citizens. The party members have expressed skepticism over the contracts worth millions of drams that Avanesyan signed with the newly established “Wigmore” clinic, accusing her of corruption.
Avanesyan, of course, tried to justify herself but failed to convince those present.
Hakob Simidyán was criticized for inaction, as well as for the disgraceful environmental situation and the unacceptable level of tree felling. The members of the Civil Contract Party also candidly expressed to Nikol Pashinyan that henceforth, in order to prevent rumors of team disputes from reaching him, they would speak openly about their grievances during meetings.
