Mass Resignations at the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Situation in Georgia
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Georgia have started to submit mass resignation requests. This was announced by former Minister of Internal Affairs and former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
“I can confirm that there are over 100 resignation requests at the Ministry of Internal Affairs that are not being signed. The ministry is losing qualified personnel, and their restoration will take years. Most of the deserving employees of the police have left for abroad, working as drivers in America. Many have left the country, some have been forced to stay, and some have been threatened or bribed. This is a tremendous tragedy,” he stated.
Gakharia is convinced that the ministry must be fully depoliticized. He also emphasized that the current government in Georgia has crossed all “red lines” and is leading the country into a political deadlock.
