No Convoys with Bodyguards Will Be Allowed: Ministry of Internal Affairs Initiates Process
The newspaper "Joghout" reports that following the appointment of the new Minister of Internal Affairs, a process has been initiated under the directive of Police Chief Aram Hovhannisyan. According to information obtained by the newspaper, it has been decided to halt and detain vehicles of individuals who travel with bodyguards and in convoys of multiple cars in the republic, thereby prohibiting such practices in Armenia. This process has been underway for four days now.
What prompted this directive? On November 15, during a Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the activities of law enforcement, stating that they have provided the judicial system with everything required and are now expecting results. Pashinyan noted, "When I go to the village, they talk about the same things - that people were afraid of 'this one' back then, and now they are still afraid. Those who looked down on others are still doing the same, and it appears that there is weak governance in Armenia. I'm sorry, but that means the law enforcement agencies are weak. I will not allow anyone to label me as 'weak.'" Essentially, these comments contained signals aimed at those who roam cities and villages accompanied by several vehicles and bodyguards, feeling untouchable.
