Georgia's Opposition Fails in Fourth Attempt, Says Kobakhidze

The fourth attempt by Georgia's opposition to organize a revolution has failed. This was announced by the country's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, as reported by TASS.

"Over these four years, we have gone through four attempts to organize revolutions—'Maidans' (named after the opposition 'United National Movement' party). This is a fact. The first attempt to organize a Maidan took place in June 2022, when we were denied the status of a candidate for EU membership, and foreign-funded NGOs stepped onto the political stage, demanding the government's resignation and their coming to power. The second attempt at a Maidan occurred in the spring of 2023, the third in the spring of 2024, and now we have witnessed the failure of the fourth attempt to organize a Maidan," Kobakhidze stated during a press briefing.

It is worth noting that protests in Georgia have continued for the fifth day now. The demonstrators are opposed to the government's decision to postpone negotiations for the country's EU membership until 2028. According to the latest data, the number of arrested participants in the protests exceeds 200.
