Establish Order or Die: Lukashenko

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has dismissed the Culture Minister Anatoly Markevich and appointed the Republic's Honored Artist Ruslan Chernetsky to the position. The Belarusian president has urged the new ministry to establish order in the cultural sector "or die." This was reported by "Sputnik Belarus."

Lukashenko specifically referred to the current state of Belarusian cinema as a "sheer disgrace." He pointed out that during film production, "everyone wants to make money, but they are not willing to agree that good films are necessary."
