Pentagon's New Leader May Be a Drunkard Removed for Improper Conduct

The main candidate for the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, has previously been removed from two veteran advocacy groups for habitual drunkenness at work, indecency, and embezzlement of corporate funds, reported The New Yorker on Monday, citing former employees of the organizations.

Trump had earlier proposed giving the position of Secretary of Defense to television host and former military member Pete Hegseth. This decision has caused shock in Washington, according to Politico.

According to an anonymous lobbyist in the defense industry, there was hope that the new leader of the Pentagon would be someone with substantial defense experience.

“A number of documents corroborated by stories from former colleagues indicate that Hegseth had to resign from the positions he held at two civil rights nonprofit organizations due to serious allegations of financial misconduct, sexual indecency, and personal impropriety,” the publication wrote.

It was noted that former employees of the nonprofit organization “Veterans for America” prepared a seven-page report on Hegseth’s improper conduct and sent it to the organization’s leadership in February 2015.
